Update

It has been a while since I've posted, but everything is going well.  Both Brown puppy and Blue puppy have gone to their new homes.  Their owners are thrilled with their new friends, and everyone is settling in well.

At home we still have Red, Purple, and Black puppies.  They are getting so big!  It's hard to believe that they are now 14 weeks old, and weighing close to 50 lb!  Red and Black are still waiting for the perfect homes, but are of course welcome to live with us as long as they need to.

Farewell Orange and Green!

The day has come for our first puppies to leave the nest.  While it is a sad day, in many ways it is also a happy one.  Both Green and Orange are now on their ways to their new homes, where they will begin the rest of the adventure we call life.

Orange settled into the back of Barbara's car, ready to go.

Barbara Daley came by early this afternoon to meet all the puppies and make her choice.  She was very pleased with the overall quality of the litter, and had a hard time picking between Orange and Brown.  With her help we assessed Red and Purple, and have decided that Purple is the best girl for us to choose as a keeper.

So now we have three boys and two girls left on the farm.  Purple gets to stay, so Red will still be looking for the perfect home.  Blue is spoken for and will be picked up in a few weeks after spending a bit more time home with his littermates.  Either Brown or Black will be meeting his new person next weekend and making the trip to Quebec where he will live.

It is sad to say goodbye to everyone, but we can't be anything but pleased with how this litter has turned out.  I will continue to post updates of the remaining puppies, and if their new owners send me updates I will share them here for everyone to enjoy.

Oh, and for your entertainment, introducing the PuppyMobile!  This elegant form of transportation is perfect for moving seven curious and independent puppies from their Indoor Puppy Palace to the PlayYard.  The photo was taken on one of their last PuppyMobile rides as a full litter.  Now with five there will be more room (though they will also soon be learning to walk on a leash to get to the yard).

Conformation Photo Time

Despite the incredible muggy heat, we managed to take conformation photos of everyone today.  Because it's hot several puppies insisted on panting so their mouths are wide open in some of the better photos.  However, they did great all things considered.  Please enjoy!

Vet visit and more photos

Today was the puppies' big first vet visit.  Everyone got their 8 wk vaccinations, deworming, and a thorough check-over.  We also microchipped everyone.  The visit went well with all the puppies strong and healthy.  They weighed between 18 and 22 lb.  Interestingly this entire litter now weighs more than Renee's first (uncomplicated) litter did at the SAME age.  Perhaps because Renee nursed them a bit longer than she did her last litter.  Either way, they are far from being a weak litter of puppies.  Instead they are right on target for their age.

On Sunday one of our puppy buyers came by to meet the puppies.  She took a bunch of photos and was kind enough to allow me to share them with you.  The puppies are mostly flopped out in the heat of the day.  We plan to take more formal photos later today (assuming the weather co-operates, we've had a ton of thunderstorms lately).  If all goes well I will try to get them up tomorrow.

On Friday the stud owner, Barbara Daley, will be coming by to choose her pick puppy and bring him home with her.
